DIMA SMT Systems is proud to announce the release of their latest LEAD FREE full convection reflow oven the BREEZE. For those companies that only have a single PCB or a small batch of PCB’s that needs to be reflow soldered, a huge reflow oven is to big an investment. Especially for those companies DIMA introduces a LEAD FREE approved 4+4 zone reflow oven with a total process length not bigger than 1200mm.

The success of a reflow oven is not measured in its size or the amount of heating zones, it is determined by the ability to create every possible reflow profile. A simple calculation will help to explain what is needed. For most LEAD FREE reflow profiles the board needs about three to five minutes in the process chambers. For those companies that produce only a few boards the speed of the conveyor is of no big importance. Therefore if the oven runs at 20cm per minute a tunnel length of maxi-mum 100cm (5 x 20) is required. The amount of zones is a similar story. The high throughput ovens use many zones, but in practice several zones are set at the same temperature. Dividing one long zone into several smaller zones makes it eas-ier to keep the temperature uniform over a longer distance. In theory only three zones plus one cooling zone is required (ramp-soak-peak), but in practice it is eas-ier to create an ideal profile when adding one extra zone. DIMA’s Breeze offers a powerful convection heating irrespective of the size and mass of the components. The unlimited variation of temperature profiles is achieved by the tunnel design that includes 4 top heating and 4 bottom heating zones. To minimise the stress for dou-ble sided boards the top and bottom temperature can be set independently. The to-tal process length has been kept to only 1200mm including 1 cooling zone. To elimi-nate the possibility of damage caused by static, the Breeze includes an air ioniser in the cool down zone as standard equipment. The Breeze reflow oven offers full forced hot air heating to maintain consistent edge-to-edge temperatures, regardless of component size or density.

The microprocessor controlled Breeze can be used in-line, or stand alone by utilis-ing a vibration free mesh belt conveyor. The Breeze comes as a table top model or as a stand-alone unit when combined with the optional cabinet. The mesh belt al-lows PCB’s to a maximum width of 400 mm. The belt speed of the Breeze is adjust-able from 50 mm/minute up to 800 mm/minute. The Breeze is equipped with a DI-MASoft reflow profiler that is capable to store up to 6 different reflow profiles. Up to 99 different heating programs can be stored in the microprocessor of the Breeze. Through the RS232 interface an optional PC with Windows based oven manager software can be connected providing unlimited storage capacity for profiles and pro-grams. The Breeze provides a power capacity of 8700W while it’s power consump-tion stays limited. Unlike the large reflow ovens the Breeze comes with an inte-grated self supporting exhaust system.
